Early Childhood
St. Ladislaus’ Early Childhood Preschool Program is designed to provide an enrich environment that encourages children to observe, be active, make choices, and experiment both individually and in groups. We have a rounded program that teaches all academic subjects in an age appropriate manner.
Our religion program covers God our loving creator who gave us this beautiful world because he loves us and wants us to be happy.The children are taught to pray (talk and listen to God) both through formal and spontaneous prayers.The Bible is presented covering both the Old and New Testament.They are introduced to the church and learn Baptism is our initiation to the church.
Our English Language Arts program offers the children a chance to interact with books and other text.The students make predictions and retell stories.We spend time listening to others and learning new vocabulary words that the children use in context throughout the day.The alphabet is introduced through recognition, writing, and sounds.The children learn rhyme through songs and finger plays.Reading skills are begun as the children are helped to sound out three letter words.We spend time writing stories, dictating stories, and drawing pictures to go with our stories.Punctuation is introduced.
Our math program gives the students the chance to investigate numbers through activities such as counting objects and recognizing and writing numbers.Both 2 and 3 dimensional shapes are introduced.Simple number sentences are taught.
Ourscience program is experienced through our senses.We explore and observe the world, changes in the world, and the needs of living things.We learn about the seasons, the weather, and night and day.
Our technology program introduces our children to the keyboard and the internet. Numerous phonics, math, and thinking games are available to the children both in computer class and the classroom.
Our fine arts program gives the children a chance to dress up and take on roles that may spark future experiences.Art is an integral part of the day and free expression is encouraged.Aviolin program is offered to the students during the school day.
Our Social Studies program gives us the chance to discuss different cultures, traditions, and families.We learn about community workers and the services they provide.We open the students’ minds by making them aware of leaders in our school and government.
Our Physical Education and Health program gives the children a chance to develop their large motor muscles and skills.Safety rules are discussed.Students are taught ways to stay healthy and prevent illness.
Our Music program teaches children about time, rhythm, and tempo.A variety of music and composers are introduced. Music is also integrated in classroom activities.
Field trips give our students the chance to experience places and people they might not otherwise have the opportunity to experience.Field trips are also an extension of the classroom curriculum.
